With latest technological developments, hybrid cars are gaining ground in American automobile market. Political uncertainty in oil producing nations, fuel prices (around three dollars a gallon) and global environment are top three factors responsible for greater number of people opting for hybrid cars. Investors are ready to put their money on technologies related to alternative fuels.

In the above lines, a California-based firm – Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies have developed an alternative fuel technology based on hydrogen fuel cells. According to Alan Niedzwiecki is CEO of Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies, “There is a race on, and I don’t think the American public and the world really knows what’s going on behind the scenes in the automakers. It is a revolution.”

Alan Niedzwiecki believes that hydrogen fuel technology is The future and the technology is going to will rule the road in the decades ahead. Quantum Fuel Systems have converted gas engine on an existing Toyota Prius hybrid car to run on hydrogen fuel. The car produces no emission and has a fuel efficiency of 25 km/litre.

According to CEO Alan Niedzwiecki the only roadblock in the success of hydrogen fuel is, “And what’s taking a little bit longer to develop is — you and I don’t want to open the hood of the fuel cell, we wouldn’t know how to work on it. So it has to be perfected to the point where that car can go a very, very long time before we even look at the power plant.”
